LizArt

Broome has been my home for the last 23 years. When I arrived, I had no idea what I was going to do. I left a comfortable, busy and fulfilling life in Perth and I moved to Broome for the love of a man.

Relocating from the city, I started thinking of my next career move. The thought turned into a bus and as I love art, I started LizArt Tours going to the amazing creatives in Broome, into their homes, workshops, sheds, backyards, sea containers – wherever they created. It was fun and rewarding for me and I know that the tourists loved it, and the creatives got a real buzz showing off and selling their works.

Sometimes good things end, and I went to work at our fabulous Broome Museum for almost 3 years. A job I thoroughly enjoyed and a committee run organisation that has gone from strength to strength. During that time, I took over the production of the publication – East Kimberley Directory (regional phone book) and later in 2008, I started Uniquely Broome, the publication you now havein your hands.

I also worked for the Sisters of St John of God, involved in their Relationships Exhibition, later becoming a volunteer (some might remember me wearing the Nun’s outfit at the Markets), also I have just finished volunteering at the Broome Museum and in-between all that have found a wonderful community of people who have become lifelong friends.

Thank you Broome friends, and also the adventures I have had in the Kimberley. You have given me so much – I discovered what the word COMMUNITY meant.

I am leaving Broome with the man I love! New adventures are on the horizon.
